This project was pure fun. Instead of our usual 3D characters in a magical world, we shot a full 60” musical on location—with over two dozen actors, dancers, extras, and props all choreographed together.
To blend the VFX with the live-action, I 3D-tracked every shot and built simplified scene meshes to use as shadow catchers or to replace storefronts where needed. Once the stage was set, we brought Max and Mat back into the scene, animated their moves, and lit them to match the plates.
For the finale, I extended the camera move digitally to create space for the hero poster, animating each Max and Mat pair on a static setup, rendering them individually, and mapping them onto tracked “poster” planes in the final shot.
